Cultural Stops

Our cultural experiences are expected to include:

  • A bicycle-rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk - a crowded bazaar
  • A visit to a Skih Temple, where volunteers provide fresh hot free food throughout the day as a community service
  • The Crafts Museum - essential for understanding arts and handicrafts of India
  • Akshardham – a tribute to Hinduism in India
  • The architecturally stunning Bahai House of Worship, Lotus Temple
  • Food preparation demo and dinner in a private home
  • Jama Masjid – a famous, very large mosque with an important history going back hundreds of years.   The courtyard can hold up to 25,000 worshipers
  • Diwali holiday festivities!   flowers, food, fireworks
  • Shopping at large, crowded markets – and smaller neighborhood markets
  • Elephants!   We are planning to ride elephant-back to a private estate for dinner
  • Demonstration of henna design painting
  • Demonstration of “how to drape a sari”, and “how to tie a turban”
  • Enjoyment of a sunrise experience of the Taj Mahal
  • A bicycle rickshaw ride through a National park – a bird sanctuary!
  • Being served late afternoon tea - Indian style
